Dr. Alex Mosley

Owner and Clinic Director

New to Austin, but not new to the word “y’all”, this Texan is moving back home and bringing a whole new type of innovative healthcare with her.

My name is Dr. Alex Nunn, and I stand for a world where people choose to trust the unique healing potential that resides within them. A world where people understand that they have everything they need already inside of them to be happy, healthy, and successful. As we go through life’s changes and transitions, daily stressors both big and small can sometimes get our bodies off track; and that’s where I come in! I help families overcome chronic health issues that have yet to be solved by traditional medical care or even traditional chiropractic care.

As the owner and Clinic Director of The Specific Chiropractic Centers – Austin, and belonging to a team of 16 Specific offices nationwide, our group sees thousands of patients all with unique cases, spanning from migraines or chronic neck and back pain to more complex issues like stroke recovery, fibromyalgia, digestive disorders, Lyme disease, or multiple sclerosis.

We practice a technique called upper cervical, meaning we focus exclusively on the top two bones of the neck and the very intricate relationship these bones have with the brainstem and central nervous system. Along with the health issues mentioned above, my personal passion is working with children exhibiting symptoms associated with neurodevelopmental and/or behavioral disorders. This can look like autism, anxiety, sensory processing disorders, learning delays, ADD/ADHD, OCD, PANS/PANDAS, ODD, and/or Tourette’s.

We’re able to get positive results with these types of health challenges because we look at all factors related to what keeps a person healthy with particular emphasis on how the organs within the body are actually functioning. On top of that, we partner with our patients to establish healthy, sustainable habits that keep their bodies working happily and efficiently long after society tells us they should.

By using Computerized Infrared Thermography, The Specific puts the HEALTH back into “healthcare”.

Thermography is a medical technology that is FDA approved as a neurodiagnostic procedure. In our offices, this technology is utilized by scanning a temperature sensitive device over the spine. A computerized analysis produces a graph which reveals dysfunction in the nervous system. This procedure is used on every visit to objectively monitor the course of patient care. Think about it like getting your heart checked. The doctor checks the waves of your heart to make sure everything is normal, and if it isn’t, it shows up on the graph. What we do is similar to this, except we’re looking at the waves of communication from the brain to the body and back from the body to the brain. All of our doctors within The Specific have gone through hundreds of additional hours of advanced training and education to read these nervous system graphs and know whether or not something is normal or it isn’t, and more importantly, how to fix it.

Thermography allows us to get the “miracle” results we do. In all reality, it keeps us from guessing with your health. We’re able to see what works and what doesn’t; if we’re on track or if we need to take a different route; and since we are able to see how the body is functioning in real time at every office visit, we’re able to refer and co-manage cases with other health experts when necessary.

By catering to our patient’s individual needs, The Specific puts the CARE back into “healthcare”

To put it simply, I value relationships. I enjoy knowing my patient’s favorite restaurants, their children’s (and their pets!) names, even their favorite vacation spots or sports teams. I love getting down to the bottom of not only their health issues, but why they want to change them in the first place. I am a partner, not a dictator. To me, this means I walk next to my patients offering a hand, a push, or guidance when they need it versus simply preaching at or telling them what to do – and I’m able to do that solely because I get to really know each person I take care of. This also means that the care I provide is not one-size-fits-all. All my patients are unique individuals, and their care is custom tailored to fit.

Besides the relationship aspect of working with people, I also appreciate the little details of what makes a great experience. I hand picked the scents we use, to the paint colors, all the way to the Living Room decor (it’s too awesome to be called a “waiting room”) and the spa-like environment in the Post-Adjustment Recovery Suite. When successful healing is taking place, it’s important for the space it happens in to allow for a feeling of security and stability as well as peace and hope. From the moment you walk into the office, my goal is to not only make my patients feel welcome and at home, but to create an environment that feels both safe and inspiring.

Needless to say, I am very excited to bring this innovative healthcare to Austin! I would love to invite you to join me in all this excitement and get on my email list for more details related to our grand opening, office tours, and all of the fun events we have planned.
